Improve Your Ears and Increase Your Confidence

A little blonde girl with both of her hands over her ears isolated on white backgroundMisshapen, enlarged, or protruding ears can detract from a person’s self-image and cause him or her to feel unattractive. Preoccupation with the appearance of the ears can lead to social uneasiness and isolation, sadness, and decreased performance on a range of activities. Many kids are also harshly bullied for the appearance of their ears. While they should not change how they look because of bullying, improving their ears can help them find the confidence to stand up for themselves and improve their quality of life.

Ear Surgery

Ear surgery, also known as otoplasty, can improve the shape, position, and size of the ears. This surgery can correct defects from birth or deformities caused by injury to produce ears with a more natural shape and proportion.

Otoplasty can correct the following:

  • Overly large ears (macrotia)
  • Ears that stick out from the head
  • Misshapen ears
  • Unsatisfactory results from a previous ear surgery

Look Better and Feel Better

A little blonde girl with one hand cupped to her ear isolated on a white backgroundAlthough appearance definitely does not determine worth, people often feel better if they look better. Improving the appearance of the ears generally leads to an improved self-image, which contributes to increased confidence. This allows people to feel more relaxed in social situations because they no longer worry about others judging them based on how their ears look. When they can focus on the situation or topic at hand rather than worrying about how others perceive them, people can overcome obstacles more easily and are more likely to succeed. Overall, this leads to a more carefree, happy attitude and life.

Show Off Your Legs

Summer is over, and skinny jeans and leggings are soon to be pulled to the front of the closet. Although you don’t have to worry about your skin’s complexion as much, the shape of your legs still shows through these winter wardrobe staples. While stick-thin, “model-type” legs used to be the ideal, the majority of society has shifted to value legs with a healthy, athletic shape.

Even after following a diligent diet and exercise regimen, stubborn fat often remains in the thigh area. In addition, some people are born with naturally small calf muscles and are unable to achieve a shapely calf appearance that reveals the true strength of their legs. Furthermore, those who have lost a significant amount of weight are usually left with excess skin on the thighs as well as stubborn fat.

Fortunately, there are procedures that can produce the slender and toned legs so many desire.

Liposuction

Liposuction removes unwanted fat through tiny, inconspicuous incisions. No general anesthesia is needed, and the fat cells are permanently removed. If desired, the removed fat can be re-injected into areas that the patient would like to augment or reshape, such as the buttocks or around the eyes.

Thigh Lift

The thigh lift procedure removes excess skin to reshape the thighs into a more slender, well-built shape.

Calf Augmentation

For this procedure, implants made of solid silicone are inserted over the calf muscles to create the appearance of larger, more toned calves.

If you would like to eliminate stubborn fat from your thighs or any other area of your body, please call (888) 478-4690 or fill out our online contact form. Dr. Jaime Rodriguez Sierra has extensive skill and experience to achieve safe and effective results.

Get the Body You Deserve With a Mommy Makeover

Would you accept a job that required you to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week without any pay, sick leave, or vacation time? It sounds crazy, but many women have chosen to take on this job, motherhood, wholeheartedly because the joy of having children is worth every sacrifice.

A brunette mother in a white t-shirt holding up here baby in a white onesie on a white backgroundAlong with time and money constraints that often come with this position, almost all mothers also experience changes to their body that are less than ideal. Stretch marks, deflated breasts, and sagging skin are all evidence that a miracle has taken place. Since so many mothers are looking to save time and money while juggling all their other duties, the Mommy Makeover procedure was created.

The Mommy Makeover is a customized procedure that combines certain cosmetic procedures that can help restore a woman’s pre-pregnancy body. With a few procedures performed at one time, the patient saves time in recovery as well as money spent on separate procedures.

Any combination of liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast lift, and breast augmentation can be included in the Mommy Makeover.

Lipoabdominoplasty

Dr. Rodriguez-Sierra often combines liposuction with tummy tuck surgery in a procedure called lipoabdominoplasty. A tummy tuck alone will address excess skin in the abdomen, but it will not remove fat like liposuction can. Conversely, liposuction cannot remove excess skin, tighten the abdominal muscles, or remove stretch marks. Combining these two procedures provides the ultimate results.

Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift

After pregnancy and breastfeeding, the breasts usually change to some degree. Most women want to replace the lost volume they experienced by getting a breast augmentation, but they do not know that this procedure will not remove any excess skin or lift the breasts to a more youthful position. By combining a breast augmentation and a breast lift, the patient can experience larger, more youthful breasts.

With all the hours you’ve put in as a mother, you deserve to cash in on a total body transformation. If you are interested in the Mommy Makeover or any body contouring procedure, please schedule a consultation Dr. Rodriguez-Sierra by calling (888) 478-4690 or filling out our online contact form today.

3 Reasons Athletes Would Rather Have Smaller Breasts

female tennis playerOf all the cosmetic procedures available, breast reduction surgery is perhaps one of the most liberating. Most women who desire this procedure want more than just a smaller breast appearance; they want freedom from the back pain, skin irritation, wardrobe issues, and physical limitations that often result from large, heavy breasts. For professional athletes who depend on their body’s performance to make a living, these frustrations pose an even greater threat to their quality of life.

1. Excess Weight

According to research, a typical A-cup breast weighs almost half of a pound, and every additional cup size adds another half-pound to a woman’s frame. Although this may not sound like a lot of weight, for professional athletes, every ounce can affect their performance. This was the case for Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, who underwent breast reduction surgery at the age of 18 because her heavy breasts were slowing her reaction time. She reduced her cup size from a 34DD to a 34C. Since her breast reduction, Simona has won six Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) titles and was named the most improved player by the WTA as well as ESPN Center Court. Currently, she ranks number one in Romania and number three in the world for tennis. Although breast reduction surgery wasn’t the only cause of Simona’s success, we believe it certainly helped.

2. Clothing Malfunctions

A sports bra that properly compresses and supports the breasts is hard to find, and well-endowed female athletes often try to compensate by wearing two sports bras or even taping their breasts. For Ultimate Fight Championship competitor Ronda Rousey, her flimsy sports bra was no match for her bulging bustline during the first UFC women’s fight of the season last year. Once she flipped her opponent to the floor, she used precious seconds to adjust her bra straps and got kicked straight in the chest. Throughout the entire match, she was trying to prevent a wardrobe malfunction.

3. Pain

Pain and discomfort are also a major problem for athletes with larger breasts. During the 2012 London Marathon, one-third of the female runners reported breast pain, the proportion of which increased as the cup size increased; one-fourth of those with a cup size of A reported experiencing breast pain, whereas one-half of those with a cup size of F or larger complained of frequent breast pain.

Although the drawbacks of larger breasts are intensified among professional female athletes, they are no less frustrating for the rest of the female population. If you suffer from pain and discomfort because of your heavy breasts, the cost of breast reduction surgery may be covered by insurance.
